الهمس: الصوت الخفي، وهمس الأقدام: أخفى ما يكون من صوتها. قال تعالى: فلا تسمع إلا همسا [طه/ 108].

el-Hems: gizli/alçak sestir. Ayak seslerinin hemsi: onların çıkardığı sesin en gizli, en hafif olanıdır. Yüce Allah şöyle buyurdu: "Artık fısıltıdan (hafif sesten) başka bir şey duyamazsın" [20:108].
