But if it gets known that these two were guilty of the sin (of perjury), let two others stand forth in their places,- nearest in kin from among those who claim a lawful right: let them swear by Allah: "We affirm that our witness is truer than that of those two, and that we have not trespassed (beyond the truth): if we did, behold! the wrong be upon us!"

Eğer o iki şahidin bir günah işledikleri anlaşılırsa ölene daha yakın olan hak sahiplerinden diğer iki kişi onların yerine geçerler ve: "Bizim şahitliğimiz, önceki iki kişinin şahitliğinden daha doğrudur. Bunların (iki şahidin) günah işledikleri anlaşılırsa, haklarına tecavüz edilen (mağdur durumdaki)lerden diğerlerinin yerine geçecek çok daha uygun başka iki kişi onların yerini alır. (Bu iki kişi) “Doğrusu bizim şahitliğimiz onların şahitliğinden daha doğrudur; biz (kimsenin hakkına) tecavüz etmedik; aksi takdirde biz de elbette zalimlerden oluruz.” diye Allah’a yemin ederler.
