9:120
مَا كَانَ لِأَهْلِ ٱلْمَدِينَةِ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ أَن يَتَخَلَّفُوا۟ عَن رَّسُولِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا يَرْغَبُوا۟ بِأَنفُسِهِمْ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ لَا يُصِيبُهُمْ ظَمَأٌ وَلَا نَصَبٌ وَلَا مَخْمَصَةٌ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا يَطَـُٔونَ مَوْطِئًا يَغِيظُ ٱلْكُفَّارَ وَلَا يَنَالُونَ مِنْ عَدُوٍّ نَّيْلًا إِلَّا كُتِبَ لَهُم بِهِۦ عَمَلٌ صَـٰلِحٌ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ

الترجمة
It was not fitting for the people of Medina and the Bedouin Arabs of the neighbourhood, to refuse to follow Allah's Messenger, nor to prefer their own lives to his: because nothing could they suffer or do, but was reckoned to their credit as a deed of righteousness,- whether they suffered thirst, or fatigue, or hunger, in the cause of Allah, or trod paths to raise the ire of the Unbelievers, or received any injury whatever from an enemy: for Allah suffereth not the reward to be lost of those who do good;-

Medine halkına ve civardaki bedevilere, Resulullah'ın emrine aykırı hareket etmek uygun olmadığı gibi, onun katlandığı zahmetlere öbürlerinin katlanmaya yanaşmamaları da yakışık almaz. Çünkü onların Allah yolunda çektikleri hiçbir susuzluk, hiçbir yorgunluk ve hiçbir açlık, ayrıca kâfirleri öfkelendirecek ayak bastıkları hiçbir yer veya düşmana karşı elde ettikleri hiçbir başarı yoktur ki, karşılığında kendilerine salih bir amel yazılmış olmasın. Çünkü Allah, güzel iş yapanların mükafatını zayi etmez.

Medine halkının ve civarlarındaki göçebe Arapların Allah’ın Elçisi'nden geri kalmaları ve onun canından (önce) kendi canlarını düşünmeleri doğru olmaz. İşte onların Allah yolunda bir susuzluğa, yorgunluğa ve açlığa uğramaları, kâfirleri öfkelendirecek bir yere (ayak) basmaları ve düşmana karşı bir başarı kazanmaları da sadece bunların karşılığında kendilerine iyi bir iş yazılması içindir. Şüphesiz ki Allah güzel davrananların ödülünü ziyan etmez.

It is not for the townsfolk of Al-Madinah and for those around them of the wandering Arabs so stay behind the messenger of Allah and prefer their lives to his life. That is because neither thirst nor toil nor hunger afflicteth them in the way of Allah, nor step they any step that angereth the disbelievers, nor gain they from the enemy a gain, but a good deed is recorded for them therefor. Lo! Allah loseth not the wages of the good.
