Behold! Allah promised you one of the two (enemy) parties, that it should be yours: Ye wished that the one unarmed should be yours, but Allah willed to justify the Truth according to His words and to cut off the roots of the Unbelievers;-

İşte o zaman Allah size iki taifeden (kervan veya kureyş ordusundan) birini vaad ediyordu ki, sizin olacaktı. Siz ise arzu ediyordunuz ki, şanı ve şerefi olmayan şey (kervan) sizin olsun. Halbuki Allah, âyetleriyle hakkı yerine oturtmak ve kâfirlerinarkasını kesmek istiyordu.

Hani Allah size, iki gruptan (kervan veya Kureyş ordusundan) birinin sizin olduğunu vadediyordu; siz de güçsüz olanın (kervanın) sizin olmasını istiyordunuz. (Oysa) Allah, sözleriyle hakkı gerçekleştirmek ve (Kureyş ordusunu yok ederek) kâfirlerin ardını kesmek istiyordu.
